Analyst firm IDC has released a new report in which it says PC sales in the Asia-Pacific region grew by 17% from one year ago to reach 23.4 million units sold during the third quarter.
The boosts come from government contracts in the China and Taiwan regions, with increased activity in Australia, New Zealand and South Korea also contributing to the rise.
“It’s great to see the PC market picking up here in the region,” Bryan Ma, IDC’s director for regional personal systems research, told News.com.au.
“Even though a lot of the momentum may be coming specifically from China, the enthusiasm should start to spread to the point where the entire region gets off on the right foot next year.”
The region’s number one manufacturer spot was taken by Lenovo, controlling 20% of the market, followed by Hewlett-Packard at 18.3%.
