US outdoors manufacturer Mountain Hardware is set to release a jacket that not only keeps you warm, but also charges your mobile phone at the same time.
The jacket’s left pocket holds a power adapter that enables you to charge your iPod, digital camera, GPS and other personal electronic devices while out and about.
And a battery pack located in the jackets’ back also connects to three heating elements – one in the mid-back and two in the front of the jacket – that heat the coat for up to 8.6 hours. Wearers can adjust the temperature setting with a toggle switch on the left breast.
The jackets cost $US375 with the heating element, with an extra $50 for the recharging device.
They have a slim profile and are designed to wear either alone or as a mid-layer under a ski jacket, the company says. The jackets will go on sale from 15 October, but no Australian release date has been announced.
