Invitations for the new Google Wave social media tool will be opened after 30 September to users who agree to report bugs within the new program.
The Google Wave tool, announced early last month, is a mixture of email, instant messaging and file exchange tools in the one solution. The tool revolves around “conversations”, rather than one-to-one email messages.
The Google Wave development team has already distributed 6,000 development accounts, with another 20,000 requests, but the initial invitation list will consist of about 100,000 users.
A post on the Google Wave development blog wrote that: “we will invite groups of users from the hundreds of thousands who offered to help report bugs when they signed up on wave.google.com.”
The Google Wave tool is expected to be available for all other users later in the year.
