IT employees looking for careers

Over half of all IT staffers believe there is not enough room to progress in their career paths, according to a new survey from Hays Information Technology, an IT recruitment firm.

About 80% of staff said basic salary rates are still the most important factor when deciding whether to take a new job, but 79% also said they look for challenging workloads.

The survey also shows that 65% of IT employees in permanent roles are satisfied with their pay, while 79% said they think about flexible working arrangements when taking a new job.

Richard Horrocks, director of IT contracting at Hays IT, told Itnews.com.au that employees in the IT industry will be looking for more benefits in the future.

“Benefits have remained competitive, as organisations are eager to retain talent,” he said.
“Candidates are naturally more cautious and less inclined to change jobs, so will be scrutinising remuneration and benefits, job security and enhanced career prospects more closely.”
