Social networking site MySpace is continuing to fall behind market leader Facebook, with recent data from ComScore showing Facebook recorded 77 million unique visitors in the US in June.
That figure rose from 70.28 million during May, while MySpace experienced a drop in unique visitors from 70.25 million to 68.4 million.
MySpace, once the market leader, has continued to shed users, with the site losing almost four million unique visitors in June, compared to just 700,000 lost during May. While Facebook continues to grow, MySpace is beginning to fall away in terms of popularity.
While the site generates more page views than Facebook at 32.4 billion in the US, Facebook is continuing to catch up, jumping 12% to 21.3 billion page views in June.
The disappointing figures come as rumours have begun to circulate regarding MySpace’s revenue. The site will receive its last payment of an advertising deal it struck with Google in 2010. The agreement states that MySpace will receive $300 million if the site hits specific page view requirements. If Facebook continues to grow and take users from MySpace, that deal may be in jeopardy.
