Frequent fliers can download free audio books

Travelers passing through Brussels, Milan and Rome airports will soon be able to download up to three audiobooks free of charge as part of a new deal with the Oneworld alliance. The alliance, which includes major airlines such as American Airlines, British Airways, JAL, Qantas and Cathay Pacific, will offer the new service via Wi-Fi networks at airports in the three cities.

Customers can download the books onto any device that connects to the network, with over 40 titles currently available. An e-mail can even be sent the day before a flight, updating the customer with current titles.

The networks come after the introduction of Oneworld Travel Stations, which offer travelers downloadable material and even mobile charging stations. The concept is just one of many in which businesses are following the recent trend in giving away free products to help promote a brand, such as vending machines in the US offering free food products.
