A number of US “Twitter activists” who continually harass politicians will possibly enter Australia soon after winning an award at the “South By Southwest Interactive Festival”.
The festival, which celebrates new tech trends and websites, gave the “Tweet Congress” an award for its service. The Tweet Congress actively harasses politicians who aren’t using Twitter to start using the micro-blogging service.
“We have 110 members of Congress tweeting and we harass the congressmen who aren’t tweeting,” said Chris McCroskey of Squeejee.com, the company behind Tweet Congress.
“We want politicians to get on Twitter and communicate with the people who actually put them there.”
McCroskey also says that the service is eager to move into France, India and even Australia.
“It works best in places where you don’t get thrown in jail if you say something bad about someone in government,” he said.
