Despite significant advancements in female participation in the workforce, the gender pay gap remains a stubborn barrier to true workplace equality in Australia.
This is the first time that the WGEA, which annually reports gender pay gaps by industry, has released the names of actual companies and the differences in what they pay male and female employees.
Come Tuesday, large private sector organisations will have their company’s gender pay gaps published for the first time for all to see, name, and shame.
The good news is that Australia’s total remuneration gender pay gap has dropped slightly, down 1.1 percentage points to a new low of 21.7%. But the real story could be in what’s to come over the next year.
