Increasingly, Google is shifting Chrome from being a traditional web browser to being a platform for web apps. It already markets a version of Chrome – called Chrome OS – that is basically a stand-alone operating system.
So it’s no surprise to find that Chrome has its own built-in Task Manager, just like Windows or the Force Quit window in Mac OS X, where you can close misbehaving web pages and windows without closing the entire browser.
You can access the Task Manager by hitting Shift + Escape. Alternatively, from the menu, choose Tools, followed by Task Manager.
A window will pop up allowing you to force a misbehaving tab to close – without closing Chrome.
