Associate file types with specific programs

tech-tricksWhenever you open a particular type of file in Windows, you may find that you don’t have a program set up as a default piece of software for that file.

That means you may be using two or three different programs to open the same type of file, which can get annoying.

But in Windows there’s a good way to set default programs for opening different files.

Head to the Control Panel, then choose “Default Programs”. There, you should see the option to associate a file type or protocol with a specific program.

Click on that option, and allow the page to load. There, you should see a list of file extensions. Choose whichever one you want to customise, and then click “change program” to select the default program.
