Tech giant Atlassian is planning to bolster up its foothold in the European market with the establishment of a new data centre in Ireland to help expand its cloud infrastructure.

According to Business Insider, Atlassian revealed its plans at its summit in Barcelona on Tuesday.

“Today, more than 75 percent of new Atlassian customers start with one of our cloud products, which means our cloud infrastructure must be up to the task,” Atlassian co-founder Scott Farquhar said.

According to Farquhar, close to 40% of Atlassian’s sales come from Europe so the Ireland data centre is “just a start”.

“Europe is a crucial market for us — in fact, four of our first five customers were from Europe,” he says.

Farquhar says expanding into Ireland will help the company provide a better service to its European clients.

“After migration to this new infrastructure, our European cloud customers will experience improved performance and reduced latency,” he says.
