A Melbourne conservationist who is leveraging technology to accelerate her planet-saving efforts has been recognised for her work, alongside other inspirational leaders around the country.
Since 2014, Impact 25 has been recognising 25 leaders in the Australian community who are creating a positive impact each year.
This year’s winners include Senator Penny Wong, domestic violence activist Rosie Batty, World Vision chief executive Tim Costello and My Green World founder Natalie Kyraciou.
“It’s a huge honour,” Kyriacou tells StartupSmart.
“The 25 winners come diverse backgrounds and fields, it’s great to see so many causes being championed.”
The My Green World brainchild sold her car and held several garage sales to build her company and create an app that supports charities around the world fighting for animal welfare and protection of the planet.
“I don’t see this as a personal victory so much as it’s a victory for the issues I’m championing,’ she says.
“It solidifies the impacts that people working in wildlife and conservation can have.”
Kyriacou notes the the World of the Wild app is working on several new features coming out in February next year. The team is also planning to roll out a new youth-focused wildlife and conservation education program across Australian schools.
“The impacts of climate change, species extinction and environmental degradation are absolutely the greatest challenges of our time,” she says.
“We all have a responsibility to protect and preserve the planet and I hope that more wild life conservationists and advocates continue to be recognised for their work.”
