After being widely criticised for its first all-male round of guests, Australian startup conference SydStart has announced its first female speaker.

SydStart has also promised that more female entrepreneurs will feature in upcoming announcements.
Google announces better than expected profits
Google has announced its second quarter earnings, outstripping its estimates and leading stocks to surge by up to 8%.
Google’s revenue grew by 11% year-on-year, reaching $17.7 billion.
Google CFO Ruth Porat attributes much of this growth to its performance on mobiles, particularly YouTube.
“Our strong Q2 results reflect continued growth across the breadth of our products, most notably core search, where mobile stood out, as well as YouTube and programmatic advertising,” Porat said in a statement.
GroupOn buys food delivery startup OrderUp
Global e-commerce marketplace GroupOn has acquired Baltimore-based on-demand food delivery startup OrderUp for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase marks GroupOn’s clear intent to branch into the ever-booming food delivery market, to add to its restaurant deals.
As TechCrunch reports, OrderUp CEO Chris Jeffrey says being acquired by the large company will help greatly with their growth.
“GroupOn’s reach and ability to connect supply and demand at scale make it the perfect destination for us to grow even faster and expand in our targeted local markets,” he says.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 70.08, rising 0.39% overnight to 18,120.25. The Australian dollar is currently trading at US74 cents.
