THE NEWS WRAP: Facebook now lets you control your newsfeed

Facebook has added a new feature allowing users to specifically select what content they want to see first on their newsfeed.

The newsfeed has previously been aggregated by what Facebook thinks users will be interested in, as determined by who they interact with, and what like and comment on. Users can now go to ‘News Feed Preferences’ and choose which friends and pages they want to see first, and perhaps more excitingly, what they don’t want to see.

“We know that ultimately you’re the only one who truly knows what is most meaningful to you and that is why we want to give you more ways to control what you see in NewsFeeds,” Facebook product manager Jacob Frantz says in a blog post.

iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan now available in beta

Apple’s newly updated mobile and desktop operating systems are now open for public testing.

As Tech Crunch reports, the biggest updates in iOS include new app News, a revamped version of Notes, transit directions in Apple Maps, an updated Siri and a smarter search function.

Mac Office 2016 has launched

Mac Office 2016 has officially launched, including new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.

It will also include updated features such as full-screen view, multi-touch gestures and full retina display support.

Mac Office 2016 is available now for Office 365 customers, and it’ll be up for one-time purchases in September.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 33.20, rising 0.19% overnight to 17,548.62. The Australia dollar is currently trading at US75 cents.
