Pozible

Rick Chen, PoziblePozible, a crowd-funding platform and community for creative projects and ideas, developed primarily for artists, musicians, filmmakers, journalists and designers is the first of its kind in Australia.

Co-founder Rick Chen reveals how his inspiration behind the business.

Can you explain what your business’ proposition is?

Poziblis a purpose build platform designed for creative individuals, groups and organisations to promote a project and raise funds through pre-selling items related to their work.

What gave you the idea for the business?

Prior to Pozible, we worked on a web project to help struggling visual artists sell their work online. While working on this project we came across a number of new crowd-funding platforms in Europe and in the US. We felt the concept of crowd-funding was very strong and set about developing a service for the creative industry in Australia.

How did you fund the business?

To date, we’ve been bootlegging and self-funding all development and activities. We come from a web development and finance background – this has helped considerably in setting up the business.

How have you marketed the business?

We realised very early on that the most important aspect of marketing Pozible is through the projects we promote. We try to dedicate as much time as possible to the projects. Collaboration and word-of-mouth have also been the most important factors for our growth this year.

What has been the hardest part of starting up?

For Pozible, the hardest part was getting the first five clients to use the platform. The concept and idea behind the Pozible platform is very new to Australia and it required a number of enterprising people to take the dive with us.

What are your plans and ambitions for the business?

We are very strong advocates of collaboration and we foresee Pozible collaborating with many organisations to expand the platform locally in Australia and internationally. We also plan to explore other markets and applications of crowd-funding.
