Sweet By Nature, a Melbourne gourmet cake supplier, has won a $20,000 business grant competition run by software brand MYOB.
The company, which was started by Megan Misso in her home’s kitchen in 1990, emerged from several thousand entrants to the competition, which began in July.
Small firms were encouraged to share their passion and explain what they would do with a $20,000 grant from MYOB to improve their businesses.
MYOB also awarded three other businesses – Eco Office Supplies from South Australia, Australian Vermiculture from Broken Hill and Sydney firm One for You/One for Me – with $2,000 of products.
Misso says: “Every day since [I started up], I have been able to share my passion for making cakes and biscuits with our incredibly loyal customers in Melbourne. It’s wonderful having a hard working and supportive team sharing my passion and helping me achieve my business goals.”
“This grant from MYOB will help me take my business to the next level with a new website and improved signage.”
Tim Reed, CEO of MYOB, adds: “With thousands of entries, the MYOB Business Grant has been extremely popular and we found it difficult to decide on the final winner, but Megan’s entry captured the spirit and energy that we were looking for.”
“We were delighted and inspired by the passion, drive and determination of all the Aussie business owners that sought to win the $20k grant.”
