A new phone app creates a virtual wall at popular places and tourist attractions, so visitors can see messages and videos from those who came before.
Wallit allows users to post and view content on virtual walls at places such as the Eiffel Tower, stadiums and stores.
Wallit’s founder Veysel Berk says the goal is to record a cumulative experience at a specific location. Content must be generated and posted from the place where the virtual wall is located.
“You cannot take a picture at the Eiffel Tower and then post it later to the wall at the Golden Gate Bridge,” Berk says.
“We make sure that all content is created genuinely at that location. That way, we are pre-filtering the content and exhibiting the character of that place at any time.”
There are virtual walls available in all major cities worldwide. The app is available for iOS, and will be launching for Android in the coming weeks.
In addition to providing a platform for users to contribute content, the company sees virtual walls as a way for retailers to connect with consumers, and collect analytics on their customers.
The company also plans to introduce advertisements to the walls. Why not come up with your own concept for virtual walls?
