OtherInbox filters email-based idea

OtherInboxFor those who struggle to manage the constant stream of newsletters, store promotions and daily deals to their inbox, OtherInbox can separate the important stuff from the junk.

This browser add-on works with pre-existing Gmail, Yahoo! Mail or AOL email accounts, analysing, filtering, labelling and archiving incoming mail to maximise inbox efficiency.

An automated organiser categorises messages and sends users a Daily Digest report, providing a breakdown of emails that didn’t make it into the main inbox.

Founded in January 2008, OtherInbox is led by Joshua Baer and co-founder Mike Subelsky, and launched later that year at TechCrunch50. The business is based in Austin, Texas.

“Email marketers love OtherInbox because it helps them send targeted, relevant emails that generate more revenue. Consumers love OtherInbox because it saves them time and gives them control over their inbox,” the company says.

The service recently hit one million users, marking exponential growth over the past year and suggesting that inbox anxiety is a very real phenomenon.

Email is an area that has remained relatively unchanged in the last 10 years, despite failed attempts such as Google Wave to improve the experience for users.
