In order to offer something new in the restaurant sector you could adapt an idea from the small Italian town of Ferrara.
The town plays host to a unique event called Street Dinner, whereby participants are led to a surprise location where an intimate dinner awaits.
Operated by Italian travel agency Link Tours, participants provide their mobile number prior to the event.
On the designated evening, the participant receives a text message revealing the location of pre-dinner drinks.
A second text message follows, informing participants where to collect their table, chairs and chosen meals (the participant and their partner can communicate their food preferences beforehand).
Finally, a third text message arrives, detailing the location of the dinner. Both participants are therefore treated to an element of surprise as they arrive at each location.
Part treasure hunt and part pop-up restaurant, it’s hard to imagine a better way to promote a city and its local highlights while giving consumers an experience they’ll remember.
This is definitely one to emulate, particularly in artistic or historic locations around the world. Imagine tourists’ and lovers’ delight at descending on an unknown but picturesque setting where a beautiful dinner sits waiting.
