Accommodation with a garden twist

Hire garden space for campingVacationers in the United Kingdom who hate the idea of trying to secure a spot in a busy campsite are being encouraged to pitch a tent in a stranger’s garden.

A website allows people to advertise their lawns to campers for just $13 a night, with homeowners expected to cash in on events like Wimbledon and the Olympics.

Similarly, US-based business Airbnb works as a travel network by pairing travelers seeking a unique experience with locals willing to rent out their homes for a fee.

Airbnb is reportedly in the process of closing a $100 million funding round, led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, which could raise the company’s valuation to more than $1 billion.

Airbnb has also attracted the attention of US actor Ashton Kutcher, who has poured a “significant amount” into the company. Wimdu, which has just secured $90 million in funding, has also entered the traveller accommodation space.

This niche already have some significant players within it, but could you offer an alternative to appeal to travellers on a budget?
