Help! What do I do now I can’t add Facebook FBML tabs to my page?

There are a few worried people out there who want to know how they can add custom tabs to their Facebook page now that Facebook have killed off their FBML application. Instead of FBML, Facebook have moved to iFrames, which basically uses HTML code that you find on your website.

First of all, if you already have a FBML app on your page you are okay, currently Facebook haven’t said that they are getting rid of the app to pages it is ALREADY ON, just that new pages can’t add it.

Secondly, there are lots of alternatives depending on what you want to do, I have listed a few here:

  • Static HTML: iframe tab: This application allows you to add HTML code to your Facebook page, this means that you can add images and newsletter sign up boxes and basically anything else you have on your website. It is free to use, and also has an option to add LIKER only content, which is cool!
  • Tabsite: This is another free application, it is a little bit more complicated than the Static HTML one, just because you need to go to their website to add the content. This has a wyswyg (what you see is what you get) editor in it, so it is easy to add video, images and text. It lets you have one free tab per Facebook page.
  • Involver Static HTML: This application you add from the Involver website to your page, then configure it on your page. It is SUPER easy to use, you can upload an image with no coding needed, you can add LIKER only content or you can use code. Plus, again it’s free.

These are my three favourites at the moment and I am slowly using them across all my Facebook pages, as they are much easier to use than the old Facebook Static FBML application, and if you haven’t a clue about HTML code go for the Involver app – all you need is an image.

If you have a good app that you use I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
