I have to say I am a very late convert into making movies about my brand for YouTube – literally I put my first one up yesterday.
But now I love it because:
1. It makes people laugh, and in some cases cry with laughter! It helps build your brand/business community.
2. It can spread the word about your brand through viral marketing – people can share the movie with others, some movies get millions of views.
3. You can put a link on your website to YouTube which makes your website more fun and interactive.
4. You can add it to your Facebook/Myspace pages, etc, and tweet it out there to get people interacting with your brand.
If you are going to make a movie it doesn’t have to be long (or that well edited – in my case it isn’t, only because I haven’t figured that out yet!). It does however have to be engaging, amusing and be something that people actually want to watch. Mine goes for 21 seconds, and although we thought it was hilarious we showed a few other people before putting it up on YouTube, just to check it wasn’t just us that thought it was funny!
The internet world is very forgiving, so just pick up your camera and get going.
Finally, if you want a laugh please check out my first attempt.
