Coming full circle and the ripple effect of doing good

Coming full circle and the ripple effect of doing good

Have you ever wondered what the ripple effect of your actions has on other people, things and systems way down the line or beyond your immediate world?

Often in sales we are very focused on the person in front of us; the immediate client, the immediate transaction or result. In business we often focus on the bottom line, the markets, the ROI (return on investment). All important of course for success in business and sales; however, I would like to focus our attention on what happens when we do good things whether they be for profit or not. Our desire to do good beyond the obvious personal gain.

Coming full circle and the ripple effect of doing good.

It is in the nature of most people that they like helping other people. We usually do our bit of good because we want to help people, it feels good and we think it is the right thing to do. There is something so wonderful about the feeling we get when we help others succeed.

That being said I would like to share with you a lovely story about coming full circle and the ripple effect of what we do when many people get involved.

Many of you may know that Barrett has been a long-time sponsor of the VIS (Victorian Institute of Sport) and their ACE (athlete career and education) program. We have been running the Barrett Business Education Scholarship Program whereby VIS athletes with business ideas or those starting their own businesses can learn about sales/selling and its importance to the viability of their business; develop a clear statement of the business of their business; and gain clarity about what they need to do to run a viable business.

So it is with great pride that we share the wonderful story of Cameron McKenzie-McHarg, a highly successful and decorated VIS and Olympic medal winning athlete, his wife Kate and their new business 776BC. It is a story about the coming together of Cameron, his wife, their business idea, the VIS ACE program managers, Barrett and the VIS management to create a Full Circle of opportunity. After completing the Barrett Business Education Program and applying what he had learnt in his business, Cameron developed a business partnership with the VIS to support athletes. Here is the video of the Full Circle story.
