Opera iPhone App submitted to App Store

Opera Software has submitted a version of its browser software to the App Store, but it is unsure whether Apple will approve the application.

Opera, which holds a small portion of the browsing market in comparison to rivals Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, has found its niche among web-savvy, young internet users.

But its popularity may not be long for the iPhone. Apple is extremely strict about what apps appear on its website, and a rival browser up against the in-built Safari browser may be too much for the company.

However, Opera Software has said it sees no reason why the mini-browser should be rejected. It is also currently available on Windows phones. Opera claims the iPhone version can boast download speeds up to six times faster than Apple’s Safari.
