Microsoft unleashes Internet Explorer 9

Software giant Microsoft has unveiled the latest version of its Internet Explorer software for public view.

The ninth version of the software, unveiled at the MIX10 conference, will contain parts of the HTML5 specification, with CSS3, SVG and XHTML support. Additionally, audio and video tags will have support with provisions for H.264 and MPEG4 video.

An update JavaScript engine is also included. Analysts have welcomed the announcement, saying the new browser paints an initial picture of a solid market competitor.

Currently Microsoft holds the majority of the web browser market, against Mozilla’s Firefox and Apple’s Safari. But minor browsers, including Google’s Chrome and the Opera browser, are gaining market share with IE continuing to lose small amounts of ground at a time.
