OK, there are more people living in cities than in the country – crazy, I know. At the same time though, the rural-based industries are among the biggest contributors to our economy.
The mining and agriculture industries are vital to our nation, yet people living in remote areas have continued to be kept out of the modern world.
A move like this means that people based in rural areas will have the same level of internet access as people in the city, removing one of the barriers to people moving out there. When our major industries are struggling to attract people out to the country to work, which they still are even in the downturn, anything we can do to bolster them will ultimately be in the best interest of our country.
