This is encouraging news. My daytime job is as a rep wholesaling to retailers. They all love the product I present to them but are universally gripped by “media induced caution”. Most are still making sales and pulling respectable figures, but are simply too afraid to introduce new lines or carry back-up stock.
I would like to try limited term “consignment stock” to these retailers. The stock after-all is sitting in our warehouse – if it’s sitting on the retailer’s floor it has a much higher chance of selling. There are the issues of transport costs and the costs of returns but there is still the costs involved having it sit in our warehouse.
Can anyone think of other downsides to consignment stock?
