Business: Commercial Creativity Lab at CHE Proximity Age: 25 State: Victoria |
Just two weeks into his job at advertising agency CHE Proximity, Cameron Rambert pitched to his boss the idea of creating an internal start-up incubator.
The managing director gave his idea the green light and the Commercial Creativity Lab was born.
“The CCL is not designed to be a pet project – it is, in itself, a venture designed to facilitate an ongoing, organisation-wide innovation program with an internal incubator and seed funding to go with it,” Rambert says.
“This makes the CCL one of the first of its kind in Australia.”
It’s not the first time Rambert, who has a degree in entrepreneurship from Melbourne’s RMIT, has created an incubator.
He started the Geniaus incubator and working space in Melbourne’s south-east in 2011, closing it down about six months ago when the start-ups there “grew up and left the space” and he decided to move on.
He’s now a digital strategist at CHE Proximity.
“I was lucky to find CHE because they too are in a unique stage and in a state of evolution and the atmosphere here also feels like a start-up,” Rambert says.
He says his goal for the CCL is to give an entrepreneurial platform for people within the agency and to help provide the agency with an advantage where the “principles of start-ups can some day integrate with or form a part of the agency’s offering to long-term clients”.
Rambert’s advice for other young entrepreneurs is that no matter how radical an idea they might have, “just put it out there”.
“You never know who is listening and, sometimes, it could be somebody crazy enough to support you on it.” |
