The ABC looking to replace Windows PCs with Android tablets and iPads for its workforce

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation is looking to increase the number of tablets, including Apple, Windows and Android tablets, as part of a new IT tender agreement.

According to ZDNet, as of April this year, the ABC used 4,300 Windows desktops, 1,300 Windows laptops, 230 Apple Macintoshes, and 50 tablet devices.

However, according to tender documents, the ABC wants to significantly increase the number of tablets across its workforce over the near- to medium-term future, and is requesting a range of Windows, Android, and Apple iOS tablets as a part of any tender.

The news signifies the ways in which mobile devices are reshaping the corporate IT environment.
