Woolworths has announced plans to roll out an electronic card for consumers that will replace the paper-based shopper docket scheme for customers buying petrol.
The new marketing initiative, designed to make it easier for consumers to buy Woolworths petrol, is likely to intensify the competition with Coles’ petrol retailers and the independents.
Following a six-month trial in NSW, the petrol card will be rolled out nationally over the next four months, reports The Australian Financial Review.
Woolworths expects the new card-based scheme to increase fuel-discount redemption rates and boost fuel sales.
