Macquarie takes stake in internet kiosk chain

Macquarie Bank has taken a 20% stake in Everywhere Internet, a privately owned chain of internet cafes with 20 stores in Sydney and Melbourne.

The chain already boasts 10,000 customers per day and is in the midst of a nationwide roll-out.

The automated, distinctive orange internet kiosks can be found in shopping centres and standalone sites and it claims its 300-seat cafe in the Sydney CBD is Australia’s biggest.

The business was founded by Martin Rushe, a former Goldman Sachs analyst, who is now developing a franchise program for it. Former Liquorland MD Craig Watkins, KordaMentha co-founder Mark Korda and Macquarie Technology Finance MD Andrew Gee all sit on Everywhere’s board.
