Australians living next to eight of the country’s busiest airports – including Sydney International – can now monitor aircraft noise levels online.
The $20 million WebTrak website will also allow users to track flight paths of aircraft within 55 kilometres of an airport. Information delayed 40 minutes will provide the user with height, distance and noise levels.
The other airports are Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Coolangatta, Brisbane and Cairns.
The Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, tells The Age that WebTrak is part of a federal emphasis on infrastructure.
“We have taken the process of establishing Infrastructure Australia. We believe very firmly that the Commonwealth must work with state governments to address infrastructure deficits, which are there in transport, in communications infrastructure and water infrastructure.”
