Harvey Norman has secured an exclusive Australian distribution agreement for the Sony Xperia Sola, scooping Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
According to CRN, the retailer will make the NFC-enabled dual core smartphone available nationwide for $486 outright.
The Xperia Sola, first announced in March, is notable for its “floating touch” feature, allowing it to detect a users’ finger hovering above the screen and use it to move a cursor without the user actually touching the screen. At present, the feature is only available in the web browser, although Sony claims that the feature will be available within apps in the future.
The handset initially ships with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, although the company has stated that it will be upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the future.
