Google Earth users will now be able to get their fix of news on world events following the web giant’s launch of a new service that combines its Google News and Google Earth products.
Google product manager Brandon Badger announced on the Google Earth and Maps team’s Lat Long Blog that a Google News overlay has now been added to Google Earth, enabling users to click into more than 4500 news stories through Google, with a geographical representation of where these events are happening on Google Earth.
Each news story is represented by a Google News icon that hovers over the location where the news event is taking place, with the index of stories constantly updating. Now that’s world news.
