Franchising for kids

It appears you can never be too young to learn the lessons of business and money.

Florida-based FranChild is providing children with a chance to earn extra pocket money by launching a mini franchise business.

Kids are no longer limited to a lemonade stand. FranChild featured kids have created ventures in;

  • Soap in varieties of honey, citrus, peppermint and tea tree.
  • Beeswax candles.
  • Jewellery that includes rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
  • Apparel, specifically organic cotton shirts.

FranChild aims its franchises at children aged five to 15, with a standard membership to the program beginning at $US25 a year. Included are ready-to-go business cards, marketing ideas and newsletters. Franchisees will also have access to the $75,000 FranChild Resource Centre, which is a small business incubator of sorts. Kids can then begin purchasing inventories of stock to sell on.

For an extra $2 per month, members have the option of launching a website through FranChild.

FranChild describes itself as: “A story about a dad and mom helping their kids learn about business, and sharing that knowledge and success formula with anybody who wants to do the same thing for their child.”
