Another whacky iPhone app earns a fortune

A popular new iPhone application that transforms the device’s screen into a steamy pane of glass is selling quickly on Apple’s iTunes store – and earning its creators thousands.

The application – titled iSteam – was developed by developer GreatApps, and is now set to earn the group $150,000 a month.

The application transforms an iPhone’s screen into a steamy display, which the user can trace with his or her finger to clear and form water droplets that fall according to which direction the device is tilted. The application also creates squeaking sounds when the screen is rubbed to “wipe” away the mist.

And despite the fact the group describes itself as “a bunch of 22-year-old kids,” the novelty application has surged in popularity, ahead of other apps such as “iBeer” and “Ocarina”.
