Sony chief Sir Howard Stringer has let slip that his company will supply a key component for the new iPhone 5 in an interview at a Wall Street Journal event.
While details of Stringer’s exact comments remain a little sketchy, the WSJ reported him as saying that Sony will supply a camera sensor for the new iPhone.
Stringer also said supply of the component had been disrupted by the recent earthquake and tsunami disasters in Japan, where the Sony factory making the component is located.
It has previously been reported that Sony would supply an eight megapixel camera for the iPhone 5, although Stringer’s slip of the tongue is the first confirmation of this.
