Pizza Hut iPhone app hits 70,000 downloads

Pizza Hut has announced its official iPhone app has recorded 70,000 downloads within the first 30 days of its availability.

The company’s marketing director, Valerie Kubizniak, said in a statement the app has done better than the company expected.

“The cutting edge augmented reality function and the easy-to-order functionality of the app have generated fantastic interest and great reviews – it has tracked well above our expectations.”

The app allows users to order straight from the app, and can locate the nearest store to their location. The augmented reality function allows users to hold the phone up using the camera, which shows tabs giving directions to the store.

The company said it is looking to expand the app with future updates which would allow consumers to customise pizzas and offer exclusive deals for iPhone users.

Pizza Hut is just one of several companies using iPhone apps to expand their brand. Many use them as marketing techniques, while others, including Pizza hut, use them to gain revenue.
