Telecommunications giant Telstra has upped its broadband package download quotas in order to keep its customer base from moving onto rival plans.
As of 1 December, Telstra will up the quota on its BigPond Elite ADSL plan to 2GB of data for $29.95 per month, compared to the previous level of 200MB.
Additionally, the company’s ADSL2+ plan will be given upgrades, with the $59.95 per month plan increasing its quota from 600MB to 12GB per month.
The move comes after analysts have pointed out the differences between Telstra’s plans and those from rival telcos. The company by far has the least amount of bandwidth available compared to smaller companies.
Chief executive David Thodey announced the price cuts last month, when he also said the drop in customers taking up fixed line services was “not good”.
