Foxtel subscribers have welcomed the company’s new legal download service, which lets them download movies and TV shows to their PCs.
The download service, introduced yesterday as part of the company’s ‘Next Generation’ service overhaul, will make 400 hours of content available this month. This is set to increase to 600 hours next month.
In addition, the company has introduced live streaming for sports channel ESPN360, and 12 new channels. Foxtel plans to add streaming for more channels next year.
The download service is now included in Foxtel’s subscription charge, which has risen $2 a month for basic service and $4 for Platinum and Platinum HD subscription.
The service expansion is rumoured to have cost around $15 million.
