The Wikimedia Foundation, the non-profit organisation that operates online encyclopedia Wikipedia, has now released an application for the iPhone.
The Wikipedia application allows users to search for any article that appears on the encyclopedia’s database, but does not yet allow users to edit the articles, which is a key feature of the website.
The application, which is free, is also open-source and the foundation has invited users to upgrade the app with their own additions and edits to improve the original design.
The foundation says it hopes users will improve the app to enable the editing of articles, as well as add the ability to upload pictures or other types of digital content.
