The European mobile phone industry has agreed on a standardised phone charger to hit the shelves next year.
The agreement means companies like Apple, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson will all use a micro-USB connection for their mobile phone devices.
While the standardised charger will only be adaptable for European phones, it is likely the charger will also be adopted by other markets.
The European Commission estimates it will take about three years to phase in the new chargers and that the shift would considerably reduce waste.
