A new digital service currently being tested in Australia allows air travellers to automatically let others know when they have arrive at a destination.
The service, developed by Texas-based firm Eyeline Communications, lets users of the service schedule their flight along with the contact numbers and emails of the people they would like to notify.
Users can also write customised messages to be sent off to different recipients. When the user lands on the ground and turns their mobile phone back on, the ArrivedOK service tracks their phone in the network and sends the messages to the designated recipients through SMS, email or even Twitter.
The technology can also detect if a phone is turned on earlier than expected, or if it is turned on in a different country than the destination scheduled through the service. Best of all, the service is up to eight times cheaper than international SMS rates.
