Samsung Android phones

Electronics manufacturer Samsung is working on three smartphones that will be powered by Google’s open-source Android operating system.

The company says the first device will be released in the southern winter, while the remaining two will be released later this year. While no visual details have been released, the company says the phone will integrate with Google’s web-based services.

“Our commitment is more to the Android phone than the Google experience device,” Won-Pyo Hong, Samsung’s executive vice-president, told Forbes.

The announcement is the latest in a string of wins for Android, after computer manufacturer HP announced it is investigating how Android could work with some of its laptop models.
