Daylight savings doesn’t end in New South Wales, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia until 5 April, but according to Telstra there is a good chance your mobile phone doesn’t know that.
The phone giant is warning users to check their phones on Sunday morning (29 March) to make sure their device is telling the right time.
In 2008, the governments in NSW, Victoria, the ACT, Tasmania and South Australia decided to extended daylight savings by a week this year, but Telstra says some phones are still set to reflect the traditional end of daylight savings.
Telstra’s executive director of product management, Ross Fielding, says that while the company’s networks were adjusted to support the changes in daylight saving, the software on some mobile handsets and PDAs overrode the network settings.
If the time on your phone is wrong on Sunday morning, Telstra advises turning the device off and on again, and rechecking the time after a few minutes. It says the time should only be changed manually as a last resort.
