Energy services provider with more than 50 employees collapses

The alternative energy industry in Australia has been dealt another blow, with the collapse of a company dedicated to helping households and businesses save on energy costs.

Low Energy Supplies and Services collapsed into administration on July 17, with David Ingram of Hall Chadwick appointed administrator.

In June, family-owned solar panel installation business The Solar Guys collapsed, becoming the second victim of a recall of Avanco-branded solar power circuit breakers.

Low Energy Supplies and Services was established in 2001 and describes itself as “one of the most experienced companies in the Australian energy efficiency and carbon credit market” on its website.

According to LinkedIn, the company employs between 50 and 200 employees.

“We have an extensive network of relationships at all levels of government, as well as regulatory bodies, and have worked with over 50 councils, leading private sector businesses and non-government organisations,” says the company.

“Over the past 10 years, we have been directly responsible for over 5 million tonnes of carbon abatement and water savings of over forty gigalitres per annum.”

The first meeting of creditors is scheduled to take place in Sydney on July 29.

SmartCompany contacted Low Energy Supplies and Services and Hall Chadwick but did not receive a response prior to publication.
