Internet service provider iiNet has purchased South Australian ISP Internode for $105 million, in a mixture of cash and shares.
iiNet said that Internode will remain as a separate business division. The purchase comes just a month after iiNet agreed to buy Canberra-based TransACT for $60 million.
Harvey Norman launches GST-free site
Harvey Norman is to sell computer games via an Irish-based website, to let Australian consumers avoid GST.
Retail kingpin Gerry Harvey has admitted he was reluctant to launch an overseas retail website, but claimed that he has now been forced to do so by market conditions.
Harvey told Fairfax: “We are not doing this with a great deal of joy. We have been able to do this for a long time, we have held off. But you get to a point where you can’t hold off.”
Facebook names top games of 2011
Facebook has named Playdom’s Gardens of Time as its most popular game of 2011, beating Zynga’s Cityville to top spot.
Zynga won’t be too disappointed, however, claiming four of the top 10 places on the Facebook list.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 72.39 points, or 0.60%, to 12,180.13. The Australian dollar was up to 101.41 US cents.
