SmartCompany is speaking to small business owners and members of the small business community about the issues that are most important to them in the lead up to the 2016 federal election.
Andre Eikmeier co-founded Vinomofo in Adelaide in 2011. Today, the online wine retailer turns over more than $28 million and recently landed a $25 million investment deal. Vinomofo is now based in the Melbourne suburb of Cremorne, in the electorate held by Adam Bandt from the Greens.
“I care less about the economic policies promised, to be honest.
Not that they’re not important, but I think as a nation, like a business, your people have to believe in your vision as a leader and be proud of what they’re part of.
We’ve lost pride and faith.
I want our leader to give us something to believe in again. Something to feel proud of.
I want to see us pull our heads out of the sand and get back in line with the more progressive nations of the world in terms of commitment to renewable energies and basic humanity.
I just got back from a trip to France and Italy, and seeing the unsupported poverty in Rome reminded me of our obligations to help everyone have a chance to live with some dignity and happiness.
Until we get this stuff right and stop this ridiculous conservative, bigoted stance on – for example – gay marriage and detention centres, then we’re not going to stimulate national pride by giving lucky people like me tax breaks.”
For the 2016 federal election, SmartCompany is canvassing small businesses across the country to find out the issues most important to them. If you would like to get involved, email: news@smartcompany.com.au.
