Election 2007, 2 days to go: Rudd will listen to business

Labor leader Kevin Rudd has said in his last major speech before Saturday’s election that he will have an open door to business.

Rudd yesterday told the National Press Club in Canberra that he will seek out advice from small and big business if he is elected.

“The only way you deliver good outcomes here is if you do it consultatively, and I very much believe in a team-Australia approach,” Rudd said.

Rudd’s comments have been overshadowed this morning by revelations of a Liberal campaign on the crucial West Sydney seat of Lindsay to associate Labor with a fictional radical Muslim group.

One of the Liberal volunteers caught putting flyers containing the dishonest information into letter boxes was the husband of the retiring Liberal member for the seat, Jackie Kelly.

John Howard today makes his final significant campaign speech – and, if the polls are correct, his final major speech as Prime Minister – also to the National Press Club.
