Australian stocks fell almost 1% lower today after the Dow Jones fell 0.1% overnight.
At 3pm AEST the ASX 200 had fallen 0.92% to 4094.5, while the broader All Ordinaries gave up 0.88% to 4140.2.
This was in stark contrast to the region, where Asian stocks where the Nikkei and Hang Seng both posted healthy gains.
The dollar weakened to $US1.015.
